Maggi Hambling Donates Limited Edition Artwork To Fund James Lovelock Climate Change Film

One of Britain’s most distinguished artists has donated a limited edition of 250 signed and numbered giclee prints to be sold to raise money for cutting edge climate change film: ‘A Hitchhiker’s Guide To Gaia’. Everyone who purchases one of these original prints will also be listed in the film credits as an associate producer.

Hambling, awarded the CBE in 2010 New Years Honours list, is well known for controversial public sculptures in memory of Oscar Wilde, in central London, and of Benjamin Britten, entitled ‘Scallop’, on the Aldeburgh beach, Suffolk. Her work is also in major museum collections in the UK and abroad.

Having been moved by a photograph in the press of a Scalloped Hammerhead Shark wounded by fishermen. Hambling painted her response: an image of profound intensity, beauty and sadness. The work is titled, ‘Young Scalloped hammerhead, Wounded’ and depicts the creature with traces of blood languishing beneath a breaking wave.

The painting has been carefully reproduced exactly as a giclee print in a limited edition of 250, signed and numbered. The proceeds from the sales will go towards completing the documentary about equally controversial scientist, 91 year old, Professor James Lovelock, creator of the now accepted Gaia Theory.

The film crew led by director Andy Worboys has already spent three days filming with Lovelock, exploring his ideas and looking at the reality of the effects of global heating and its’ impact on humans and all other species. The film will be a fresh and optimistic look at what needs to be done to ensure our survival, and also why it is important that we even try to survive. The film will take the viewer to the cutting edge of science where technologies, that could one day be the key to our survival, are being developed.

When it comes to climate change, global warming and the state of the planet Earth, there are many contradictory voices. Many of these voices are affected by motive , others by guilt, whilst the majority are just plain wrong!

There is one scientist whose voice resonates above all the others, a scientist, who at 91 years old, has seldom got it wrong, a scientist who we should all take very seriously. His name is professor James Lovelock.

In a village pub in the 1960′s, the distinguished author, William Golding, convinced Lovelock to name his hypothesis (that the Earth is a highly complex self-regulating system), Gaia, the Greek Goddess representing the Earth. For many years Lovelock observed Gaia from many angles: from space, beneath the oceans, amidst glaciers, as well as in the all important atmosphere. His conclusions about Gaia are now widely accepted throughout the scientific community. His Gaia hypothesis expounds that we are all part of the Earth System, all part of the intricate and living Earth. As such, we all have a role to play, from the algae on the rocks to the clouds in the sky, to the urine we release with certain relief! Gaia as a whole can be thought of as a living super-organism, with our own species identifiable as the most highly developed intelligent species Gaia has ever produced. It is our success as a species and what it has taken to achieve it that could also be the catalyst that leads to one of the greatest tragedy’s that mankind has yet encountered.

The key message is that we don’t have much time and failure to act is not an option we have. “Saving the planet” and the “Green Revolution” are romantic delusions that will speed us faster towards a perilous end. It must be understood that the planet will save herself, if we wish to survive with her, we must take preparatory action.

‘A Hitchhiker’s Guide To Gaia’ is a collaboration with Professor James Lovelock that will investigate his, and others, observations and predictions surrounding Gaia Theory. Human survival is based around the preservation of civilisation with abundant food, water and energy supplies. Lovelock has a poignant message with practical advice for preparing for the future that will soon be upon us.

We should be seeing more of this logic in our society

It’s no wonder that scepticism regarding global warming and climate change is on the increase. Those that would have us believe that all forms of civilisation and modern living are fundamentally evil and killing the Earth rely on the imposition of guilt to further an often hysterical and irrational agenda.

Guilt has been used throughout human history as a method for correcting or altering human behaviour. Catholicism is probably the most overt example of this in practice. However, in modern westernised world, freedom of the press and the anti-oppressive culture mean that application of guilt is harder to make stick.

With regard to climate change is causes a backflip response into scepticism and denial. Though it is right to question every imposed view point that comes our way, it is also important to separate the emotive hysterical voices from those that are reasonable and based on substance.

Another huge area of guilt misappropriation is that of pollution from the aviation industry. It is widely believed that if we choose to fly that we are virtually gassing the planet to death. Again, the truth is quite different. Aviation currently account for 2% of global climate emissions – relatively little, and certainly less that than the combined affects of human population and livestock production. It could also be the case that access to locations around the world drives tourism and interaction between cultures that creates national wealth and peace.

The current aspiration by a growing green mob is to convert the aviation industry to biofuels. This is itself could be one of the most anti-green and anti human acts that we could undertake. Such a move would require huge tracts of land given over to growing the sources of these fuels. In a time when we are facing potential growing food shortages, such a move would be catastrophic.

The aviation industry is an obvious target because it has engines, uses polluting fuels and we are constantly reminded of it when we look up in the sky. It not only looks bad, it feels bad. But is it?

There is scientific evidence now that a by-product of aviation is something called ‘global dimming’. This means that the particles deposited in the atmosphere actually stop the full strength of the suns rays and thus stop the Earth from heating up even more than it would be. It can be compared to the affects of large-scale volcanic eruptions that pump so much gas and “pollution” into the atmosphere that they block the suns rays and can cause climate cooling. In fact, a serious volcanic eruption that was big enough to fill the atmosphere with volcanic ash could still reverse the effects of global warming.

The reality is that the aviation industry is targeted by greens and yet the actual affect on our climate is not only overplayed but possibly beneficial. Flying has become a guilt ridden mode of transport, whilst the over production of livestock and food waste get a relatively light handed treatment.

Propaganda This entire documentary is about chemtrails – it even shows satellite imagery of chemtrails, but still calls them contrails. Why would they keep the aerosol spraying ops secret unless they would be unpopular with the public at large? The aim of this programme as far as I can see is to precondition the public to see massive chemtrails being sprayed in the sky above their heads, and think of this show’s version of reality.
