Are liberals obsessed with climate change because they don't believe in God?
Everyone I know that is concerned with climate change doesn’t believe in God. These people think they have to pretend to be God because they know oh-so-much more than He does.
The geologic record shows that the earth’s temperature has changed since its creation — temperature rises, temperature falls. Should we be concerned that there are seasons? Please.
Has anyone else made this connection? I think I just hit the nail on the head!

I’ve noticed that too.
As they reject super-naturalism, – all they can worship is naturalism.
They reject the Father, -and embrace their mother (earth).
But if we mastered our own greedy commercialism of materialism, -and lived humbled and thankful lives before our Creator, – we’d see our carbon-footprint reduce by a third.
But the govn’t has no interest in that. They promote 2-parent wage-earners, hiring of a day care, – building more office buildings, – because they skim taxes off everyone then. The govn’t doesn’t get taxes from a home-cooked meal from a mother at home. They get their money from economic activity, – when that dinner comes from KFC after picking up the kids from day-care. (to later build the prisons because kids didn’t know ‘love’ while growing up).
Some of us suffer from oxygen deprivations as well as global warming.
Climate change = Fact
god(s) = Imaginary, man made
Oy…..
another generalization from an all knowing rep
You have no inkling of the "geologic record", which shows a clear, directional change, not cyclical behavior.
On the other hand, do you think god loves you for destroying the planet?
By creation you mean 6k-10k years ago? Because the ice age was about 20k years ago.
I just follow the science.
I think you hit YOUR head!
I trust NASA, NOAA and the EPA for accurate and detailed data.
God doesn’t get into politics.
Yes, they are embracing science…no matter how little scientific proof the theories have for support.
Climate change is easy to embrace….it’s the whole global warming theory that is retarded.
connect the dots and you will see why they are obsessed with it. It gives them justification to enact just about all of their agendas
Redistribution of wealth
Animal rights (methane from cows causes global warming)
Taxation on just about everything
Cause for the government to seize control of utilities
FYI-Sweeping generalizations don’t actually mean anything.
I believe in God. I am a liberal. Checkmate.
No. I’m a liberal who is concerned about climate change, and I have always believed in God.
Many liberals also believe in god, and many believers accept the facts of anthropogenic climate change.
Of course, you do raise a good point. Those who only accept things based on verifiable evidence are logical, rational people, and that type of person does tend to be liberal. But you seem proud that you accept things without evidence, and reject things that have it.
I believe in God, and I’m still concerned. Not obsessively so, but Jesus was very clear in his expectation that we be responsible stewards in his absence (read the parable of the ten talents). We’ve inherited an amazing world, and a particularly beautiful landscape in this country, and there’s absolutely no justification for destroying it through carelessness.
Uhm, maybe its more apropos to say that you don’t believe in scientific truths because you believe in the invisible man.
(I’m sorry that you seem to have a problem discerning between "weather" and "climate". Maybe God needs to teach you more?)
Non-Theists tend to think more about the here-and-now than theists do. While theists are thinking about the afterlife and exestential morality, non-theists use that brain power to care about the current natural life and physical morality. It’s not that I know more than God: if God exists then he certainly would know more than me. But I’m not concerned with what happens to me when I die: I’m concerned about what happens to the planet while I’m alive. Just a different lens in which to view life.
Being passionate about the Earth shouldn’t be looked down upon, especially if you believe this place was made for us. Sure, there are natural reasons the temperatures change, but we’re also trashing our water, air, land, and ozone. That’s a problem for everyone, not just Atheists.
I haven’t noticed that connection but it makes some sense to me. I think scientists are more likely to be agnostic or atheist than the general population of the US. Scientists are the ones concerned (I’d use that term instead of obsessed) with global client change.
These videos show why I think people should take climate change seriously:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52KLGqDSAjo
A few minutes ago you said Sarah Palin is a communist now you are saying she does not believe in God. You are mean.
HARDLY, They just don’t pray at the alter of capitalism. Some one or thing had it’s head hit, that’s for sure.
No. And we don’t pay attention to made-up theses, either.
Considering that only about 1-5% of all US citizens self-identify as atheists, your all-encompassing statement is ludicrous.
I have been thinking about this myself – consider:
God gives you laws to live your life, in order to make the world a better place – that is ok, you take that on faith.
Congress gives you laws to live your life in a cleaner way, in order to make the world a better, cleaner place and to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. That is NOT ok.
So, what is the difference?
They’re obsessed because they’ve been looking for an way to inflict their views on everyone for years, and now they think this scam might be their ticket. That’s why none of the networks has mentioned the email story about the data being made up. Most people already realize GW is BS, this would be the nail in the coffin.
Why generalize? I am liberal, I believe in God, evolution and global climate change.
What about those who think that God’s commandments are not enough they want the government to be in charge. keep rowe vs wade as it is; keep government and religion separate.
No.
I’m Agnostic.
Really sweeping generalization much?
Yeah I have noticed that most of the tree-huggers are anti-God liberals and socialists. The honest scientists are admitting that this so called "global warming," is just another cycle the earth is going through.
How come global warming didn’t happen in the late 1800′s and early 1900′s at the peak of the industrial revolution when all the factories were powered by coal and spewing out crap loads of pollution? The air is actually cleaner now than it was a hundred years ago.
Historically temperature does fluctuate, you are right. However normally it takes tens of thousands of years to add or subtracts a few degrees, a feat which is now occurring within a century.
I an not obsessed with climate change, however I will preach until the day I die the merits of conservation. Oil is finite, we know that, yet we consume it and a completely unsustainable rate, which is unfortunate considering out entire agriculture industry is Dependant upon it.
Water, well there are already places which have a water crisis. Even some within the USA. As a farmer in Montana. Montana farmers are Dependant upon river beds filling up from spring run off from one of the 26 (formally 150) glaciers in Glacier national park. However, since there are fewer glaciers, it stands to reason that there is less water. But heck 124 Glaciers completely disappearing within the span of a century in one remote location, which will have a fairly large impact on not only the livelihoods all the Farmers in Montana, but negatively impact food production on a national level…. Nothing to worry about.
Wait – did I just include verifiable proof of warming?
yeah, I guess things like rising sea levels and melting polar ice caps are easy to dismiss when you can say "it’s all part of God’s plan".
Seems about right to me.
I believe in God AND I feel the need to stop destroying this planet. Yes, the temperature goes up and it goes down and Mother Nature does her thing. That does not mean, however, that we can blithely skip along, leaving our sh*t behind and ruining the world that God gave us. We can change the way we do things and make the world cleaner and better for our future generations.
92% of Americans believe in God or another higher power
72% of Americans believe in Global Warming?
You argument is mathematically impossible. Unless of course you chose to ignore 400 years of statistical science like you ignore 30 years of climatology.
Fallacy: "Are liberals obsessed with climate change because they don’t believe in God? Everyone I know that is concerned with climate change doesn’t believe in God. "
Hasty generalization: Poster relies on unverifiable, irrelevant personal anecdotes as basis for establishing a "universal truth" using characteristics that are mutually exclusive of one another.
Fallacy: "The geologic record shows that the earth’s temperature has changed since its creation — temperature rises, temperature falls. Should we be concerned that there are seasons? Please."
Short-term abnormalities in regular, seasonal temperatures are not a reliable indicator of gradual, long-term changes in global climatic patterns.
Me thinks you have a nail lodged into your cranium.
