Masdar City Fly-Through
In February 2008, Masdar broke ground on Masdar City, the worlds first carbon-neutral, zero-waste city, which will be completed in seven phases by 2016. Among the technologies deployed in the City, electricity will be generated by PV panels and cooling provided via CSP. Water will be supplied through a solar-powered desalination plant. Landscaping within the City and crops grown outside the walled city will be irrigated with grey water and treated waste water produced by the Citys water treatment plant. The City will grow eventually to 1500 businesses, 40000 residents and 50000 commuters, and will be home to international corporations and top minds in the field of sustainable and alternative energy. Masterplanned by renowned architecture firm Foster + Partners, Masdar City will be built on six square kilometres, of which 30 percent will be zoned for housing; 24 percent for a business and research district; 13 percent for commercial purposes and light manufacturing; six percent for the Masdar Institute; 19 percent for service and transportation; and finally, eight percent for civic and cultural pursuits. The potential for Masdar City is enormous sustainable industries, green jobs, new and renewable sources of energy that neither pollutes nor contributes to climate change.

I have a long question about global warming and I want long answers. Can you stand up to it?
OK, here goes. HOW!?!?!?!?! How can all of you people who get mad about other people polluting the world live with yourselves? Name one thing you have ever done to reduce global warming, and I’m not talking about getting a hybrid car or anything because just having a car of any kind pollutes, you just like to feel superior. I drive a SUV that gets 15 mpg, and I don’t regret it. Yes, the world is getting hotter, yes, the polar ice caps are melting, but, I know everyone will scream at me for this, how do we know it isn’t a natural thing? I’m not pretending to be an expert or anything, I don’t know the first thing about carbon emmisions, but those scientists who say cows release more methane than cars are probably right. So I think this is all a natural process. I’m not saying it’s good, hundreds of millions of people could die, but don’t get all angry about it if you are hurting just as much as everyone else. So my question is: What are your thoughts and opinions on the subject?
